Ok so I keep forgetting to do this… But i am gonna try to keep making this a regular inclusion..
Bruno Mars has dominated the UK singles charts after debut release ‘Just The Way You Are (Amazing)’ greatly outsold nearest rival Taio Cruz to reach number one.
The Hawaiian-born musician, who recently lent his vocals to Travie McCoy‘s top five hit ‘Billionaire’, sold almost double that of ‘Dynamite‘, leaving the former chart-topper in the runner-up spot on this week’s chart.
Mars’s arrival ends X Factor victor Alexandra Burke’s two-week run at the top of the chart with Start Without You, which today drops four places to five.
The highest new entry this week is Must Be The Music winner Emma’s Imagination, whose latest single ‘Focus’ makes it to seven and becomes her second Top 10 single this month after ‘This Day’.
Also charting highly with a new release is Italian DJ Alex Gaudino, best known for 2007’s ‘Destination Calabria’, who scrapes into the Top 10 with ‘I’m In Love (I Wanna Do It)’.
Past the Top 10, three former number ones take a tumble-down the charts, as Olly Murs’s ‘Please Don’t Let Me Go’ falls from five to 12, Flo Rida’s ‘Club Can’t Handle Me’ slips five spots to 14 and Yolanda Be Cool & D Cup settle in at 15 with ‘We No Speak Americano’.
Nestling in between the fallers at 13 is a new entry from Enrique Iglesias and current X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger entitled ‘Heartbeat’, while new Glee regular Charice makes her singles chart debut at 19 with ‘Pyramid’.
The Top 10 in full:
1. (-) Bruno Mars: ‘Just The Way You Are (Amazing)’
2. (2) Taio Cruz: ‘Dynamite’
3. (3) Katy Perry: ‘Teenage Dream’
4. (4) The Script: ‘For The First Time’

Joe McElderry has finally got his video for Ambitions out there…in the last week and to say its a bit of a high tempo affair would be an understatement! It’s definitely very much an all singing, all-dancing affair from the Geordie! It’s very Glee/High School Musical ish..
The 19-year-old performer walks his way on the streets of a city and, at some points, breaks into choreographed routine with a number of extras. Yes you read that last part right, however cheesy it may seem Joe made it work!
“They wanted me to just do a few hand gestures, but I wanted a full-on dance routine,” the 2009 winner of “The X Factor” explained to the Mirror about the creative process of the video. “I made them get me a choreographer and everything.” The clip was filmed at the Nu Boyana Film Studios in Bulgaria and was directed by British director Nigel Dick!
Ambitions is released October 10th.
Do you think Joe will take this song to Number One?

Ed Drewett is set to one of this year’s biggest break-through stars without a doubt! October 31st will see the release of his very first single titled Champagne Lemonade. If you haven’t heard it yet then what are hell are you waiting for? Go listen and Enjoy! You can expect to see Drewett’s debut album released March next year. I particularly love how he has established himself as a contender for chart credentials without having even yet released his first single. That’s star quality right there. Very impressive from the 22-year-old Essex singer-songwriter. As the introducing post described i first heard Ed Drewett’s smashing voice after he featured on Professor Green’s #3 hit ‘I Need You Tonight’! Not to mention he penned a number one hit in the form of “All Time Low” by this year’s breakout boy band “The Wanted”!
With the release date ‘CHAMPAGNE LEMONADE’ looming Ed has premiered the video for the track. If you’ve listened to the track then you’ll know Champagne Lemonade is a perfectly produced pop tune, mixing a pretty big catchy hook with lyrics that are smart and witty which emphasise his very cheeky persona. The bridge is an amazing part where the beat drops out then explodes back into the chorus, and that does it for me, I’ve got so much confidence in this track , I think I think it has the potential to break into the mainstream market and people are gonna warm to Ed well just because he’s a pretty likeable chap!
Oh yeah the video , it’s a decent effort from Ed, nothing too extravagant for his debut singlee, It sees the young lad smashing golf balls on a driving range in the company of a bevvy of curvy ladies!!
Ed’s first single has been produced by Tim Powell who has overseen his first production since leaving the hitmaker stable Xenomania. He’s worked with some big producers for the album which is exciting. Greg Kurstin (Lily Allen), Cutfather (Kylie Minogue, Christian Aguilera), Guy Chambers (Robbie) and Fraser T. Smith (Cheryl Cole, JLS) have all contributed so far!
He will also be joining Professor Green as main support on his October UK tour which culminates with a London date at Koko on October 19th.
The dates for the tour are below!
Fri 8 Cambridge Junction
Sat 9 Sheffield Leadmill
Sun 10 Birmingham O2 Academy2
Tue 12 Glasgow O2 ABC
Wed 13 Newcastle Digital
Thu 14 Manchester Club Academy
Sat 16 Oxford O2 Academy2
Sun 17 Cardiff Millennium Music Hall
Mon 18 Brighton Concorde 2
Tue 19 London Koko
So its been a long 3 years in the wilderness for the former X Factor winner Mr Shayne Ward but he has finally announced his return to the limelight..! Fans of Shayne have been eager for new music from him for such a long time and for a while it was thought nothing was coming and Simon Cowell and Syco just didn’t know what to do with him but they’ve proved they have faith in him by announcing the release of his brand new single and forthcoming album!
The single is a cover of a song previously recorded by Nickelback entitled “Gotta Be Somebody”. The track reached #20 in the official UK charts, no doubt Shayne , Simon & Syco will be hoping for a much more higher charting position than that.
Lolene is a name many in the blogosphere will be very familiar with so i was pretty eager to hear what all the fuss was about. You can hear a lot about Lolene from the recent introducing post.If you haven’t heard the name, you will! This 25-year-old UK native is EMI’s newest rising artist, and with over 70,000 hits and counting for her single, “Rich (fake It ‘Til you Make It)” on you tube, Lolene has proved she is just getting started and has a long way to go yet.. Yes Believe it the british born beauty is well on her way to stardom! She has been compared to the likes of Lady Gaga which is obviously not a bad thing so i thought it only right to find out much much more about the artist that is Lolene! Id put good odds on Lolene being the next exciting big thing to arrive in the music industry!
Your really are an inspirational person, you‘ve pursed your dreams and it proves that dreams can come true if you work to reach them. I love that! Where do you find your inspiration from?
My inspiration comes from my undeniable love for music and art. I am really inspired by independent females. My mother, Joan Collins, the city of London, Kate Bush, Madonna and Cocktails are some of my inspirations.
You’ve received a lot of support online, Especially bloggers, how does it feel for these people to be supporting your music and giving it positive reviews?
I am so undeniably thankful. I never take one blog or person for granted EVER. I do remember a time not so long ago where nobody knew my music and it was difficult to even get people to hear my work. So to have people supporting me is a dream come true. I just want to continue to bring you guys pop juice and more Lolene candy.
I’m really eager to listen to the The Electrick Hotel. I read about the concept to the album! I loved it! How did you come up with the idea for the concept? & when is it released?
You know the concept came from me viewing my art as a building or destination, meaning you come and check in with me when you press play, it’s metaphorical. I have really had a blast making this album and poured my entire self into it. Due to label changes, leaking issues and the general bullsh*t of the music industry, I have decided to push my album back. However, this is actually a blessing because I make new music almost everyday. I am updating the hotel, we are in renovation mode and you can expect to hear it very soon.
I also read that you named the album before you actually made/wrote any songs? Is this true?
It is true because I am a visual person and wanted to make a concept album that was unlike anything else. At the time I was writing with J.R. Rotem and pop really wasn’t that popular. I wanted to create something colourful, neon and amazing.
I understand you’re signed with J.R. Rotem‘s publishing label, Beluga Heights. How did that come about? That must be a great feeling to be signed to an obvious label who have been very successful this year with the likes of Jason Derulo. This must fill you with confidence for your music?
Signing with such an acclaimed super producer like JR was really a defining moment in my career. But truly it doesn’t matter where you are signed or who with, it’s your art and your music that’s paramount. I’m only as good as my last song, and my next song is always my best song and that’s what I like to focus on.
What I’ve noticed about your music is the fact that it’s always different, your style is always changing in all your songs. It’s so diverse. Is that a conscious decision from you in a bid to stand out from the rest?
I really like to be a freethinker and a free artist, not confined, conformed or suffocated in any way. I think artists are sometimes brainwashed by labels and their teams to remain consistent, which of course to a degree is important. However, I am inspired by so many different genres of music, I am somewhat of a melting pop, stylistically, racially, vocally and visually. I like to switch it up and keep things cute. And that’s just me being me.
So what’s on the schedule for you in the next few weeks/months? I’ve heard there’s mixtapes, videos, not to mention the singles and album! This must be an incredibly busy time for you as an artist? Are you relishing that aspect of things?
Absolutely and it’s a blessing to be busy. I am creating art everyday. The mixtape is something I can do by myself and is purely about the music, so I have taken various songs that I love which range from the Cranberries, Kate Bush, Dr Dre, Underworld, Abba and Usher – I created something unique, so it’s all a bit of fun and I can’t wait to give it to you guys as a gift. We also just shot an awesome viral video to one of my songs, “Radio”. It was shot at David La Chappelle’s studio in Hollywood with his team, and I’m so excited about sharing this with you. And I’m performing as much as possible.
The downside to music must definitely be the leaks? Does this annoy/disappoint you at all? Cos obviously you must want everything to be perfect before the whole world hears it right?
Of course leaks are frustrating but I really believe that they can also be a blessing and a great way to hear songs that may have never been released. For example Perez Hilton got hold of “Too Young To Die”, a song I wrote for Lindsay Lohan. Therefore, people were able to hear something that would never have been released. It’s just the way of the world right now and so you just have to find your rose in the thorn so to speak, and make it work.
Are you planning on hitting the UK to release your music in the future? (*I hope so*)
I have been planning to hit the UK for sure. My record label has been going through some major changes. But I am coming!
Do you have a little final message to all the Lolene supporters worldwide?
I just want to say that without you guys, all this doesn’t mean anything. You really are my inspiration. When I read you Tweets, Facebook messages and letters I feel so connected to you. I just want to thank you all for your support, love and friendship. GO TEAM LOLENE!
So there we have it, Lolene is here to stay people. I think she’s a breath of fresh air for the industry!! Really do.
Introducing yet again rising star J Rice who has been racking up the views on his official You Tube channel! Check out this lil interview with the man himself as we talk about the music industry, his plans for the future and much much more!
What inspired you to get involved in the music industry? Have you always wanted to be a singer?
It was kind of natural progression for me. I always loved music, and as I focused more on songwriting and production, I felt like I could make it in the business. I didn’t always want to be a singer. I actually started out playing the trumpet, and wanted to do that, but then around age 16 I started singing and it didn’t take long for me to hang up the horn and pick up the mic.
Out of all the artists in the industry today who are you most inspired by?
I’d say right now, honestly Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, and Justin Bieber. Gaga has managed to carve a unique niche for herself and Bruno is really bringing back singing and great songs. People like to hate on Justin, but he’s got real talent and I would be crazy to hate on someone who blew up on youtube first.
As an artist posting videos on You Tube do you feel inspired by the wave of success stories of artists being signed by record labels after posting their videos on You Tube?
I don’t know if I’d use the word inspired, but I’m definitely motivated from seeing success stories. I’m also watching them very closely to learn from any mistakes, they (their label) might make. I’ve never been the type of person who needs to learn from my own mistakes every time. I’d much rather learn from someone else’s; it’s faster.
I love your spin on all the popular hits you’ve covered in your You Tube videos, how do you think you would stand out from the rest if and hopefully when a record company comes calling and snaps you up?!
Thanks. I’m definitely a different type of artist, then most of the people who have gained success on youtube. I was a songwriter posting my own original songs for years on the net, before I started posting covers, so while I post covers, I’m writing my own original songs and also songs for other artists. When I sign a deal, the majority of the work for the first album will be done and ready to go straight to radio.
So you’re unsigned? Have you had any contact with record companies since the whole You Tube posting began?
I have had contact and am in contact right now. I’m part of the production team Phantom Boyz also, so I’m fortunate that I have more than one avenue to meet labels.
As an unsigned artist do you feel its difficult to get recognized and noticed in the music industry? How has this process been for you? Has it been difficultt at all?
I’ve found that to get noticed, you have to be doing something on your own. It’s really hard to make money with new artists, so the labels love it when you’ve already got a buzz going, and especially if you’re already selling a good amount of units on your own. I don’t focus so much on getting noticed, as I do creating great music or re-creating and arranging covers in a fresh way. So, it’s not difficult to me, because I love to do it. Now, if you ask “has it taken a long time” then that would be a big fat YES. Lol …Longer than anyone trying to get in to the industry would wait, unless they really loved what they were doing.
So then what does the future hold for J Rice?
The immediate future will be me posting more covers and original songs on my youtube page, while figuring out what to do with these labels. The way I look at it is; I’m growing everyday and selling more music every month. The longer they wait, the bigger the deal will be. In the mean time, I get to do what I love.
Your new album is currently on I Tunes now , could you tell us a bit about the album?
My new album, “The Covers, Vol. 1” is basically what it’s called. It’s a collection of songs I’ve re created over the last year. Some of the songs are mashups of two songs, and some I’ve even written my own verses to.
Now, to shamelessly plug my other album I released in May, is called “Phantom Boyz Present: J Rice” This is my music, 100% produced by the Phantom Boyz and 100% written by me. If you want to preview the songs, you can listen to them on my youtube page.
Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions! Good Luck for the future!
Below is J Rice’s latest You Tube posting which is a mashup of the popular hits Teenage Dream and Billonaire which are due to be featured on the season premiere of the ever popular series Glee! Check it out below :
Stay tuned for lots more news and videos from this rising talent, he’s sure to have a big future.
That bizarre start to the song is turning into a bit of genius feature, And it’s definitely stuck in my head. Damn you Ms Cole! Does anyone else find themselves repeatedly chanting ‘Alouette, alouette’ after hearing it? The music video, which premiered recently on ITV 2, is absolutely stunning/beautiful/amazing/ So many similar adjectives could describe the clip . The Sophie Muller-directed clip sees the X Factor judge striking some ballerina poses in front of a wind machine and generally looking very beautiful!!!! Nothing different there then. I was captivated watching!
The Wayne Wilkinsproduced track serves as the first official single from Cheryl’s upcoming sophomore album which is due for a release on November 1st.
I love how everyone is changing their opinions slowly about this track , some were disappointed initially but it’s now slowly hitting them in their face how much of a genius pop song from Cheryl Cole!!!
Promise This will be released on October 24th, followed by the sophomore album, Messy Little Raindrops in November. Could there be a little chart battle brewing amongst Girls Aloud members?
So then after spending the considerable amount of this year locked away in the studio Mr Joe McElderry has finally come up with his next single. The single was unleashed on to the public a few days ago after being premiered on Radio 1’s 5.19 show. Ambitions serves as the first official single from his upcoming debut album entitled “Wide Awake” – in stores on October 25th.
The track is not actually an original recording but a cover from Norwegian pop band Donkeyboy who recorded the original version. This group released it last year and became a #1 hit in Norway and Sweden. Questionable decision releasing a cover, but I guess Simon Cowell approved this for a reason. And besides you’d have to do a bit of research to find out it was a cover in the first place. I don’t think it really matters and shouldn’t impact on how well the track will perform chart wise. The song does everything a pop song should do. It’s a sort of Mika , Scissor Sisters and Darin style rolled into one, In other words in pop terms it’s a little bit special!
Joe really goes all out on the high notes as well. I’m interested to see Joe perform this live with the release date obviously tying in well with a return to the stage to which he launched his career last year.
Check the single out below :
The single is released 10th October. Joe faces stiff competition from the likes of Pixie Lott and Kings of Leon in his quest for his second number one?
Do you think Joe will do it? The video for the track will be released soon, reports claim the video is set to an all-singing, all-dancing affair. Impressive! He’s certainly got big ambitions!

Here we have the official video to Professor Green‘s new single, ‘Monster‘. Featuring Example on the hook the video takes you well and truly into the world of a haunted house – Its a very different video to the norm. Filmed on location in Blackpool the video has a very spooky feel to it.
Them haunted houses are scary stuff.. Anyway the video is pretty much what you would expect from Pro’ Green. It’s lighthearted, funny and different.
Expect Professor Green to be a permanent fixture in the charts for the next few years!
Monster is taken from Pro Green’s recent album ‘Alive Till I’m Dead‘which is out right now!
Monster will be released October 5th!
The Saturdays have in the last week premiered a new music video today via ITV 2. Frankie, Rochelle, Mollie, Una and Vanessa unveiled the clip for “Higher”, the official second single taken from their “Headlines” EP.
#Those of you following The Saturdays‘ reality show The Saturdays 24/7 will already know that the girls recently flew out to LA to shoot the ‘Higher’ video on a fake New York set. As you do like.
The video sees the girls dancing around the streets of ‘New York’ in a Glee-kind-of-way. They even play homage to the Beatles’ famous Abbey Road album cover in which they are walking across a zebra crossing. The girls looked amazing, you can tell they had so much fun, and just the whole energy and feel-good vibe coming from the music video was evident throughout! Totally confusing though is the non-appearance of Flo Rida in the video especially since The Sats released a brand new version featuring the American rapper!
Could we get two separate videos for the track? I wonder??? What do you think?
“Higher” will be released in the UK on November 1st. They’ve got to be #1 this time surely?!!
After the success of Enrique’s RedOne produced track ‘I Like It,’ the electro ballad ‘Heartbeat’ is being released as the 2nd international single. After utilising the cast of Jersey Shore in an upbeat party scene for his last video heart-throb Enrique has slowed things down a touch for his latest video featuring the beautiful Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger!
In the music video for their duet, Heartbeat, Enrique and Nicole use light to show their connection to each other although they remain apart for most of the clip. Once the two unite in a scene together, the chemistry is very intense between the two!
I particularly like the pulsating lighting effects in time with the heartbeat rhythm. Very creative!
Heartbeat is taken from Enrique Iglesias’ new album, Euphoria, which is available now!
Check the video out below!
