Monthly Archives: October 2010

It’s the new Roll Deep video.. Its Take Control featuring Alesha Dixon…

Grime collective Roll Deep have certainly had an incredible year in 2010. After two successive number one hits they’ve teamed up with the beautiful Alesha Dixon for their 3rd single off the forthcoming Winner Stays on album.

The slick newly premiered visuals sees them hanging out in an underground car park, speeding around on quads.

And, of course you guessed it…?, getting up close and personal with some gorgeous ladies.

The Tune is definitely the kind of song you’d hear blasting out in the clubs on a Friday night , pretty much a follow on from the first two singles, Roll Deep are taking ‘control’ of 2010 for sure!

Take Control is released on October 31 and the album Winner Stays On is out on November 8.
Do you think they could land themselves yet another number one with this track…? I’m certainly not betting against it!

Shaheen Jafargholi announces details of his debut single “Last Train Home/Hip Teens”..

Remember little Shaheen Jafargholi who sang at Michael Jackson‘s funeral? Well, the 13-year-old Britain’s Got Talent star and Welsh warbler is releasing his eagerly anticipated debut single, Last Train Home/Hip Teens, on November 22.
This is certainly something to look forward to. Shaheen is an amazing young Welsh talent and I’m so glad he is finally releasing his own material.

So then what about the actual music Shaheen has been recording…..? Shaheen is set to release the song titled “Last Train Home” with “Hip Teens” as the B side to the single. Both tracks present Shaheen in a completely contrasting light which shows off his amazing versatility as an artist. IMO I think Shaheen is a born star and could be one of this year’s brightest new recording acts without a doubt!

Since the signing to Island Records in May, Shaheen has been busy working on the record in the US with superstar producers including Jerry Wonda, Igloo & TC, who have worked with the likes of Ludacris, Whitney Houston, Black Eyed Peas, Backstreet Boys, Estelle and many more. In the UK, he has been working with big names such as Jimmy Hogarth and Martin Terefe, who have previously worked with Amy Winehouse, Duffy and James Morrison to name just a few. So big names he’s been working with then, thats impressive , you certainly get the impression that Island Records have extreme confidence in Shaheen to be the country’s next big star. I’m backing him all the way!

You can get a glimpse of his new music by checking the video out below...

Video Of The Week : Todrick Hall “It Gets Better..

Hey you, with your head held high well
You got him real good, I hope it feels good
Hey you trying so hard not to cry well
I know you’re fed up, but keep your head up

Cuz, people only see what they wanna
People gone believe what they gonna
They don’t understand the life that you choose
They never walked a mile in your shoes no no no no
So whatcha gonna do with your haters
Just gotta excuse their behavior
But just don’t give up hope
I just want you to know that

Maybe today seems cloudy and gray
So full of sorrow and tomorrow seems so far away
But it gets better, but It gets better
And I know the world keeps throwing you strife
But Keep on strutting down this yellow brick road called life
Cuz it gets better, cuz it gets better

Hey you, wondering who you are saying
“There’s something wrong here, I don’t belong here!”
Hey you, don’t you know you’ve come so far
and when there’s nowhere to run to, I’ll always love you

But, people only see what they wanna
People gone believe what they gonna
They don’t understand the way that you feel
They never walked a mile in your heels
So whatcha gonna do with your haters
You gotta excuse their behavior
Don’t you give up yet
Don’t ever forget…that

Maybe today seems cloudy and gray
So full of sorrow and tomorrow seems so far away
But it gets better, but It gets better
And I know the world keeps throwing you strife
But Keep on strutting down this yellow brick road called life
Cuz it gets better, cuz it gets better

Watch the video… The lyrics say it all! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

Finally Pixie Lott/Jason Derulo “Coming Home” has surfaced online & Nicole Scherzinger’s new single “Poison” in full , Check Them Both Out!

OH MY GODDDD! This is what I call a feel good kind of tune! This is my kind of song. I’ve been waiting to listen to this collaboration ever since it was announced. But Pixie Lott‘s super-anticipated collaboration with Mr Derulo, “Coming Home” is finally here to my delight.! The duet will be included as well as other four new tracks on Pixie’s upcoming “Turn It Up Louder” CD which will be available in the UK from this Monday, October 18th.

I’m pretty sure that this song will get the full single material. So what makes Coming Home such a good feel good tune then….? Ok its a very cute midtempo tune, nice lyrics and there is a great amount of chemistry between the two singers. It’s just one of them songs that grows on you every time you listen to it. You can just jam along to it with ease and just have a good time! Love it!

Check out the track in full below…!

To be perfectly honest I’ve never really taken Nicole‘s bid for solo success that much seriously. She’s suffered a few setbacks thus far in her solo career and with her debut album being put back I feared she would never reach the heights of her Pussycat Dolls group!

But after she featured on the X Factor as a judge I suddenly found myself warming to Nicole more than ever before, so I just found myself rooting for her and hoping her solo career picks up! And boy am I happy to hear her latest planned song release. If this attempt doesn’t do it , I have no idea what will!! Now, Nicole’s second attempt at solo stardom is taking a step in the right direction with lead single Poison.

It’s a big dance club stomper and it comes as no real surprise that the track was produced by the hugely acclaimed producer Red One.

“Poison” ticks all the boxes and i mean every single box.Poison comes complete with a big killer beat and catchy and effective lyrics. And a strong hook. “I’ve got poison on my mind!!”, Nicole sings. And boy she kills it! I’m totally feeling this 100%. The beautiful Nicole Scherzinger is set to release this club-banger on November 29th. BOY I really cannot bloody wait!!!

Follow Nicole on twitter @NicoleScherzy for all the latest news and to make sure you keep updated on the video release!!

Following on from his debut number 1 single, Olly Murs releases “Thinking of You” as his follow up single….

Olly Murs premiered his new single “Thinking of Me” this week which set to be his second single. Especially after the huge success of his debut single it will be very interesting to see how the follow-up track will fare chartwise.  I’m not a big fan of this track at the moment , is it a grower…? It could very well be. Only time will tell! What i will say though is that the style of the song is very similar to his 1st single , It’s just like a continuation, well if it aint broke well don’t fix it right….? I’m interested in hearing his album to see what else he has up his sleeve. Also the lyrics are a bit cringeworthy!

Olly co-wrote the single with Steve Robson (who he also worked with on Please Don’t Let Me Go), as well as JLS and Westlife collaborator Wayne Hector.

I think Olly could potentially have a number one with this track , as theres not really a huge amount of competition the same week this track gets its release. Obviously when you add in the power of X Factor then there’s lots of potential for the song.

The track is released 21’st November! The video has already been shot and should be released sometime in the next week I should imagine.

You can take a listen to the track below….!

You’ve got Duffy’s comeback single , The Saturdays Vid With Flo Rida, Example & Jason Derulo’s new videos , Katy Perry Teaser Video & Keri Hilson’s new song all in one big bumper post…

For some reason I’ve got a bit behind with all the latest music out there today, how very shocking of me, so I thought whats better than a big bumper post…? So yeah here it is.

Duffy has returned to the limelight with her brand new song and its a trademark Duffy song in every sense of the word. She’s made a name for herself with her signature pop soul like style!

The soul-pop uptempo track featuring The Roots serves as the lead single from the Welsh star’s upcoming sophomore album “Endlessly” . The album is out November 29th. The visuals are stunning. Wow Duffy is so beautiful. The video is FIERCE with Duffy delivering some impressive choreography. The new era is up and running impressively. You can get the new song on November 21st. Take a peep at the video below..!

The Saturdays have also unveiled the newer edit of their brand new single “Higher”. The second edit features the rapper Flo Rida! Besides adding Flo Rida’s scenes to the video, there isn’t much of a difference, except that they removed the part where Una and Vanessa sang near the end. Check the video out below!

Two Lives’ is the fifth single from Example’s debut album ‘Wont Go Quietly,  The hits just keep on coming and coming. The new single is called “Two Lives”, and IMO is one of the best songs from the album with Example again hitting you with his beautiful, simple and stirring lyrics, he certainly has a way with words. The video shows the difficult side of being a rapper as it gets a little bit too much for him , instead of getting a lift on the tour bus, Elliot takes a time-out to walk home alone. Two Lives is released November 14!

R&B star Jason Derulo or should i say Jasooooon Derrruuuuuulooooo is out with yet another video from his self-titled debut album Jason Derulo. This song is called The Sky’s The Limit and im glad he’s released this song. The song is a big TUNE and the video is pretty much what you expect from Jason as he delivers some pretty slick dance moves yet again!

Keri Hilson’s new single “Pretty Girl Rock” has recently premiered in its official entirety. The track is the 2nd release from “No Boys Allowed”. “Pretty Girl Rock” is very pop influenced but still keeping Keri’s renowned swagger like quality. The song ticks all the boxes , its radio friendly ,  It has a cool piano-driven melody and an infectious hook! Impressed with this song release from Keri ! Hope she does well with this!

American star Katy Perry has unveiled the teaser clip for her new single “Firework“. You can check it out below. She is set to perform the single on this week’s edition of the X Factor.

Rihanna Unveils her Flowery & Beautiful ‘Only Girl In The World’ Video….

I don’t know what it is but with some songs i actually need the video to be released for me to take the song a bit seriously. This new video release is a pretty perfect example , I wasn’t crazy about Only Girl , Rihanna‘s first single to be lifted from the new “Loud” era but with the video being released i have suddenly found myself addicted to the track. I think it’s the type of song that sounds better and better each time you hear it and with a video to now accompany the track that just increases….!

The visuals for the track found their way onto the web earlier this week to the delight of Rihanna fans worldwide. In the 22-year-old singer’s new video, directed by longtime collaborator Anthony Mandler, Rihanna reveals the lengths she will go to get her guy to make her feel like the “Only Girl (In the World).” Rihanna has officially moved on from her edgy “Rated R” days and has taken on a more girly and upbeat look with her newly premiered music video “Only Girl”.

‘Only Girl (In The World)’ is the lead single from Rihanna’s forthcoming album ‘Loud!!

The wild array of colors and landscapes makes this video such a beautifully shot video. Rihanna shows off her beautiful to die for looks and continues to rock her “LOUD” and spirited red locks as we view her as the only girl in the world, through rose-colored glasses. If Rihanna was indeed the only girl in the world it would be such a beautiful world.

“It’s really, really beautifully shot in these crazy, crazy, crazy places,” the 22-year-old told Entertainment Weekly. “We shot landscapes that we found a couple of hours outside of LA It looks so unreal. It looks fake, like something out of a postcard with the beautiful hills: We had a lot of sunshine those couple of days, so it really worked with the whole essence of the video. But really, the video just shows this big landscape and the only person there is me.”

Ps. Rumour has it that Rihanna will perform on X Factor on Sunday 24th October…Can’t wait.

Check the oh so beautiful visuals out below..!

Mike Posner – Please Don’t Go (Music Video)

Mike Posner is really starting to make a lot of waves in the UK and quite rightly too. I first come across this young american star when he launched his career with the feel good song “Cooler than Me” which performed very impressively stateside , it actually landed him a top ten hit in Oz, Canada and his native US. It seems that success is being replicated in the UK. The single is currently number 3 on the iTunes charts for this week 5 weeks ahead of its official release so it seems Mr Posner could be set for a big start to his UK chart career. Another top ten position for a song he originally recorded in his college dorm….? That’s impressive.

The thing that strikes me about Mike Posner is that all it seems so natural, the catchiness of his songs have really shone. His ability to create his signature sound, mixing electropop, synth-tinged hip-hop and dance is particularly impressive and its evident throughout his album.

Not content with the success of his first single Mike has begun the promo for his second single “Please Don’t Go”. IMO this is the best song from his album, it’s definitely my favourite so I was glad to see it was chosen as the next single. The video sees Mike getting a bit nostalgic.  The 22-year-old singer walks down the streets of Los Angeles during a sunny day, revisiting places in the city where he and his girlfriend used to spend time together.

You can watch the video below : I particularly like the setting for the video, the lighting is a really cool feature IMO!

Seeing as we’re still sort of playing catchup here in the UK I’ve included the video to his current single impressing “Cooler than Me””

Enjoy!

Expect to hear a lot of things about this 22 year old from Detroit in the next few years. He’s on a quest to be the next big thing and he’s well on his way!

2 Members of Girls Aloud unveil their album cover art pictures…

So then its time for the two members of Girls Aloud to launch their albums and so fittingly the cover art pictures have been released.Check them both out below….!

Cheryl Cole shows off her sultry side on the cover of her new album, Messy Little Raindrops! Messy Little Raindrops hits shelves next month!

Cheryl Cole revealed the artwork for her new album “Messy Little Raindrops” and now its the turn of fellow Girls Aloud member Nadine Coyle with her album “Insatiable!" The artwork for Nadine’s debut record is probably quite familiar to you all, as it has been used widely for the promo of Nadine’s single and album. However the image of Nadine is now on a pink background, alongside some fancy fonts.

What do you think?  Is it better than Cheryl’s offering or does the X Factor judge’s cover art get your vote.…? You decide!

Check out Take That & Westlife’s brand new singles…

Hurray we finally get to see Take That in its original form. At last, they took there time over but thankfully Robbie Williams announced his return to the band earlier this year and now we finally get to see the results of what they’ve all been up to locked away in the recording studio.

The brand new song is “The Flood”! The song serves as the first single from their upcoming album “Progress” which will be released on November 22nd – “The Flood” was produced by the one and only Stuart Price, and the video clip was filmed on Dorney Lake in Berkshire (England). I’m a big fan of both song and video. Both are pretty EPIC!

The lads wore Oxford and Cambridge-style rowing outfits as they sat in a specially made sculling boat, which was customised to accommodate a fifth rower.

The song has had a very good reception so far, with fans very happy about 1) the quality of the song 2) the returning factor of Robbie. Check the video out below :

Also making a return to the music is boy band Westlife who have announced details of their brand new single. “Safe” is a powerful pop ballad which is safe by name but definitely not in any other aspect. Recorded in Los Angeles, with legendary producer John Shanks, the soaring ballad features the quartet in their most raw and emotional form.

10 years down the line and still Westlife have always regained the ability to keep churning out these hits and the rate shows no sign of slowing down whatsoever!I think they’ve got the point where it’s just impossible for them to make a “BAD” song. they’ve struck a rich vein of form for sure. The album, their eleventh amazingly, is due for release November 15 and was recorded in London and California.

Diana Vickers with her incredible new video “My Wicked Heart”..

The lovely beauty that is Diana Vickers will shortly be reissuing her debut album ‘Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree’ with some new brand new material added in. How excited am I? The answer – errr very excited!

Whoopsy Daisy! It’s a bit late to arrive to the blog, too late in fact but it’s finally arrived, and I love the video!  its FANT-ABOULOUS! (not even a word I know) but in Diana’s case I just can make them up, she’s that super! I think the theme was a very clever choice. The circus theme just kinds of fits perfectly with the song! GENIUS! Diana Vickers is a gorgeous young girl and you really get to see and appreciate that in the visuals to the song!

“My Wicked Heart” will be released in the UK on October 18th. WHOOP!

She is set to perform the track on this week’s results show edition of the X Factor…Happy days.

Check the video out below. I have a sneaky feeling you won’t be disappointed at all.

Check the tracklisting out for Messy Little Raindrops.. Cheryl Cole’s anticipated new album….

Its been a bit of a controversial past week for Cheryl hasn’t it? Gamu gate has completely swept the nation and shows no sign of slowing down. Did Cheryl make the right choice? Hmm.. i wonder. Anyway on to the music.

Do not ask me how but somehow the multi-talented and beautiful Cheryl Cole has managed to juggle her X Factor judging responsibilities with divorcing her cheating husband and that extremely nasty bout of malaria and finish the production of her sophomore album all in time for that time of year again , Yes it’s that “performing her latest single on X Factor‘s Sunday night results show…” time of year again. Her commitment, work rate and desire to complete the album is phenomenal when you consider what’s she gone through recently!

Her latest album is to be called Messy Little Raindrops. So yeah, the track list for Cheryl’s album, You can take a look below..

  1. Promise This
  2. The Flood
  3. Yeah Yeah (feat. Travie McCoy)
  4. Better To Lie (feat. August Rigo)
  5. Everybody, Everyone (feat. Dizzee Rascal)
  6. Raindrops
  7. Cold Heart
  8. Hummingbird
  9. Amnesia
  10. Happy Tears
  11. Waiting

The single after ‘Promise This’ will be an enormo-ballad called ‘The Flood’, a massive, strong-laden, Christmassy tear-jerker about ‘wreckage’, ‘drowning’ and ‘natural disaster love… Sounds exciting right?

The hook-up with Travie McCoy is very of-the-moment, considering the impressive year Travis has had with his hit single “Billonaire”, I definitely can’t wait to get a listen!!! Cheryl has also recorded a duet with recently turned reality tv star judge Dizzee Rascal, that track is titled “Everybody , Everyone”. The album is to be released on 1st November 2010, preceded by the lead single Promise This. Looking forward to this album…
